The Meadowlark Flannel Shirt began as a field note: something that moves like a favorite shirt but shrugs off a full day outside. A soft, heavy flannel with a longer back hem and a chest pocket that actually fits a map.
It is made from brushed 7 oz organic cotton flannel, chosen because it handles abrasion from pack straps and still softens after a few washes. The cut is relaxed through the shoulders with articulated elbows, so reaching for a handhold never pulls the hem up past your waist.
Seams are flat-felled where they meet your skin and taped where the weather comes in. We moved the side seams forward so a hip belt sits on fabric instead of stitching, which sounds small until mile nine.
The colors are dyed in small lots, so each run carries a slight variation in tone. We think that is part of the charm; your piece will fade along its own path as it collects sun and stories.
Pockets are placed where hands naturally fall, with one zippered stash big enough for a phone and a folded paper map. Every zipper pull is a looped cord you can grab with gloves on.

Care
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Hang to dry. Do not use fabric softener, which clogs the weave and reduces breathability. Re-apply a wash-in water repellent once a season if water stops beading.

Orders placed before 1 p.m. Pacific ship the same business day. Standard ground delivery takes 3 to 6 business days within the continental United States; expedited options appear at checkout.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes. Orders of $75.00 or more after discounts ship free within the United States. Orders under that amount ship for a flat $7.95.
What is your return policy?
Unworn and unused items can be returned within 60 days for a full refund. Used gear is covered by our repair program instead, and we will always tell you what a fix would cost before we start.
How does the repair program work?
Send us anything we made, at any age. We patch, re-stitch, re-wax and replace hardware at cost, and many small repairs are free. Turnaround is usually two to three weeks.
Can I change or cancel my order?
We can edit or cancel an order within two hours of purchase. After that it may already be packed; write to us and we will do our best.
Do you ship internationally?
We ship to Canada, the United Kingdom and most of the European Union. Prices can be shown in euros or pounds using the currency selector, and duties are calculated at checkout.
